Honestly I don’t think so, a person is born with a certain set of genes. We may hate it and we may complain about the parents who give us those genes. But without those genes we wouldn’t have been, we wouldn’t be and we wouldn’t become. Without that certain set of genes how would we reach our potential as the tradesman, the nurse, or the athlete? Can our dreams change? Of course they can, if they didn’t we would do the same inane activities day after day. We would never evolve from children to adults. We would never truly find our place in the world, never find the job that makes us happy, never find that one person who compliments who we are. If our dreams never changed we would still be worked drive thru at McDonalds when we are forty, instead of constantly learning and developing. Instead of finding, eventually, that career that makes us smile and love going to work each day. Dreams change, jobs change but deep down the person never changes. The person who puts everybody else’s needs above their own always will do that. The girl who desperately seeks somebody to truly love her and not use her will always seek. The guy who is always there or a chat when his friends’ need it will always be there. The girl who hides the pain and bruises because she’s scared will always do that. The man who beats his girlfriend to feel better about himself will always be a sorry excuse for a human being. The girl who spends her life pretending to be a friend to someone who she really wants to be with always will.
The truth of the matter is some things about us are ingrained, and they are the things that everyone notices, the things people use to describe us. They can be good or bad but they never change. People will use you and abuse you and swear that they will change and things will be different. But in the end you can always be sure that…
